Is my laptop already on the domain?
Your laptop can be managed more effectively if it is on the uthscsa.edu domain. Follow the steps below to see if your device is already registered:
Apple Macintosh laptops
1) Go the the Apple Menu and open System Preferences.
2) In System Preferences, select "Users & Groups" (if you are running Mac OS X 10.7 Lion) or "Accounts"(if you are running MacOS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier).
3) In the resulting pane, click Login Options (see the image below; you may need to click the padlock in the lower left-hand corner and enter your Mac user credentials to unlock the preferences).
4) If "Network Account Server:" has a "Join…” button next to it, your Mac has not yet been joined to the domain. If the "Join..." button is not available, your laptop is on the domain.

Windows XP Pro laptops
1) Click the Start button.
2) Depending on your start menu configuration, select "Settings" then "Control Panel," or select "Control Panel" directly.
or
3) Click the "System" icon.
4) In the "System Properties" window, click on the "Computer Name" tab.
If "win.uthscsa.edu" is shown next to "Domain:", your laptop has already been joined to the domain. If there is anything else next to "Domain:” the system is not part of our domain.

Windows 7 Enterprise, Ultimate, & Pro laptops
1) Click the Start button and right-click "Computer".
2) Click "Properties".
3) In the right-hand pane, look at the comment next to "Domain:" under "Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings". If the laptop has already been joined to the domain, it will say "win.uthscsa.edu", otherwise it will be blank.
