Installing your digital certificate

Installing your digital certificate

Your digital certificate must be integrated into your operating system before it can be used in other applications (document signing, e-mail signing, etc.). The steps below will install your certificate on your computer.

If you have not already requested and downloaded your digital certificate, please go to Digital Certificates/Signatures. This will guide you through both processes.

You must have your digital certificate file and the password used to download it available to begin the installation. The file name will be in the format “#####_uthscsa_edu.p12”, where “#####” is your login username. On some Windows computer, the file may simply be displayed as “#####_uthscsa_edu”.

NOTE: Be sure to DOWNLOAD your certificate; do not run it. When you download it, remember the password and passphrase used.

  2. When the “Certificate Import Wizard” opens (Fig. 1), ensure the radio button next to “Current User” is selected and click the “Next” button.
