The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio joins a national effort among universities, businesses, government agencies, associations, nonprofit organizations and individuals to promote online safety awareness by becoming a Champion for National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM).

As an official Champion, UT Health San Antonio’s Information Security team will be hosting on-campus events this October to raise awareness on how to have a safer and more secure online experience. Weekly events will focus on aspects of cybersecurity and the many ways it impacts our daily lives.

Cyber Heists & Crimes: Safety Starts With You

Louis Barton, Frost Bank Executive VP and Certified Information Privacy Professional will share current incidents of Cyber Heists and Cyber Crimes in this riveting presentation. He will also share 3 Easy Tips on how to reduce the Risk of being a Cyber victim. Bring your lunch; water and snacks will be provided.

About the Speaker:
As executive vice president for Cullen/Frost, Louis Barton oversees the enterprise wide risk management and third party risk management programs, corporate privacy and cyber awareness. Previously, Barton was the director of the Business Intelligence and Data Warehouse operations. He also managed the century date change program for the company, and participated in special White House activities during the Clinton administration intended to bolster public confidence in the banking system. Barton is a graduate of the University of Houston with a degree in management. He is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional and has a degree in professional photography from the New York Institute of Photography. He is author of the book “Check Processing Operations” published by McGraw-Hill. He has over forty years of experience in the banking and finance industry.

Sandy Sullivan, Frost Bank Sr. VP of Fraud Management will share extremely important resources for fraud prevention to protect you and your family. Bring your lunch; water and snacks will be provided.

About the Speaker:
Sandy Sullivan is the Senior Vice President for Frost Bank’s Fraud Management. She has worked for Frost Bank for 44 years and for the last 25 years she has been the statewide liaison in all external fraud matters that include forgeries; counterfeit checks; alterations; customer employee embezzlement; identity theft; debit card fraud; and elder fraud. Mrs. Sullivan's responsibilities also include being the liaison to all law enforcement agencies for Frost Bank; and in the education of Frost Bank staff, the bank's customers, as well as the community at large to proactively raise the awareness on fraud issues as well as fraud prevention.

Shred Day

Long Campus Main Entrance
The annual Health Science Center Shred Day will be held at the flagpoles near the main entrance to the Long Campus in front of the School of Medicine Building. This free event allows faculty, staff, and students to shred sensitive work papers and other documentation on-site, as well as personal papers. Departments can also bring computer hard drives and other media to be shredded during the event. All material must be delivered before 3:00pm.
