The following steps will allow you to patch your Windows 10 computer on your schedule, with or without VPN. Manual updates can shorten the time required to update your system with our automated patching over VPN. Please be advised there may be some University-specific updates that will still need to be push by our automated system even after you complete the manual update process.
Step 1. Navigate to your Start Menu
Step 2. Select “Settings“
Step 3. From the “Settings” menu, choose “Update & Security“
Step 4. Click “Check for updates“
Step 5. Any available updates will be gin downloading and installing.
Step 6. Wait for updates to complete. You may be prompted to restart your computer to finish the patch updates.
Step 7. Repeat these steps until Windows Update shows you are up to date as of your current time.
